Pipped At The Post

No, not news of Tom's early arrival but something even more miraculous...

Mr CM has actually paid up! He left a voice message on my mobile phone while I was at Uni (excellent session by the way - think I'm really going to enjoy this course) to say he'd just put the cheque through my letterbox.

And sure enough when I arrived home there it was. The full amount, signed by his own (un)fair hand.

My gob is well and truly smacked. I didn't think this day would ever arrive.

I shall be rushing urgently to the bank tomorrow morning to get it paid in before it turns into a puff of pink smoke blasted from a goofy pixie's bottom pipe. Ker-ching!

'Your cheque not only bounced sir, it ricocheted right round the bank...' as the old jokes goes.

Let's hope not. Hallelujah if he's good for it! About bloody time.

You're telling me, though if there proves to be a little bit too much india rubber injected into the transaction it'll be me hitting the roof as opposed to the cheque. Fingers crossed...!

Crikey, you'll have us all believing in the Easter Bunny at this rate! Well done for hanging in there.

Great news! Time to dispatch the Daleks then?

Oh - let's wait for the cheque to clear first!

Hi Amanda - the Easter Bunny and the tooth fairy too, I tell you. I can't believe it's taken so long to get what is at the end of the day an absolute pittance from this guy. At least I had a nice phonecall and email from his business partner thanking me for the "excellent work" I did on their sites and hoping I'll stay in touch.

Hi OC, Yes - kindly keep the Darleks in reserve at the moment. Once the money is safely installed in my Swiss bank account we can then start the annihilation process. With Donna leading the charge!

Good news, Steve. Spend it wisely as it seems as though you had to earn it twice over!

I wouldn't reject future employment from them outright but demand 100% payment before proceeding with any update of the site. That way, you're in charge, calling all the shots, and haven't been seen to turn your back on them but retain your professionalism in the face of adversity.

I must admit I'll think long and hard before accepting anymore commissions from them. Mr CM once mentioned to me that his previous web designer no longer answers his telephone calls... now if that wasn't a warning sign I don't know what was!

As for spending it wisely... it'll be used to pay off my tax bill, alas!

Yay! good for you...! Glad it's finally done and over with...:-)

Thanks Eve - it really does feel like a bit of an ordeal has come to an end. I had bad feelings about Mr CM from the start but ignored my instincts in favour of the lure of money... a lesson there methinks.

What a relief. I have been having panic attacks on your behalf.

Sarcasm, Nora, will get you everywhere. Especially on this blog...
